Why Wall Insulation Matters
Walls account for a substantial portion of a building's envelope. Insulated walls reduce heat transfer, improve comfort near exterior walls, and lower energy bills. They also contribute to acoustic separation between rooms.
Many older homes have little or no wall insulation. Retrofitting is possible in some cases through injection or interior/exterior systems. New construction and renovations offer the most straightforward opportunities.
Wall Insulation Options
Cavity insulation fills the space between studs. It's typically installed during construction or when walls are opened for renovation. Blown-in or injected insulation can sometimes be added to existing walls through small holes.
Interior insulation involves adding a layer of insulation and drywall (or other finish) on the interior face of the wall. Exterior insulation is applied on the outside, often as part of a cladding or wrap system. We recommend the best approach for your situation.
Assessment and Installation
We assess your walls through inspection and, when helpful, thermal imaging. We identify insulation levels and gaps. We explain retrofit options and their feasibility.
Installation timing depends on the approach. Cavity insulation during construction or renovation is straightforward. Retrofit injection requires access and is suitable for some wall types. We provide a clear plan and quote.
