Cavity Insulation in New Construction
In new construction, cavity insulation is installed after framing and before drywall. Batts are placed between studs, or blown-in/spray foam is applied. We ensure proper fit, avoid gaps, and follow vapor barrier guidelines.
We coordinate with the builder and other trades. Installation is efficient and leaves the wall ready for drywall or other finish.
Cavity Insulation During Renovation
When walls are opened for renovation, we have the opportunity to add or upgrade cavity insulation. We remove old insulation if needed, address any moisture or pest issues, and install new insulation to current standards.
This is often the most cost-effective time to improve wall insulation. We work with your renovation schedule and ensure the walls are properly prepared.
Materials and Best Practices
Fiberglass and mineral wool batts are common. Spray foam offers higher R-value and air-sealing. We select materials suited to the wall assembly and climate.
We avoid compressing batts, ensure proper vapor barrier placement, and seal around penetrations. Proper installation prevents gaps and thermal bridging.
